My husband and I have eaten at this Mizu more than a couple dozen times and we actually prefer it over other steakhouses! The filet mignon cannot be beat (for $1 more than the regular steak hibachi meal and it's the same size too, you'd be crazy not to get the filet over a regular steak!) - it tastes better than any filet we've had at any steakhouse in Birmingham (like the meat was just cut locally and brought in that day to be cooked). Every hibachi meal comes with a salad, soup (refreshingly good!), rice, noodles, mixed vegetables and 2 pieces of shrimp (except the vegetable meal). That's a lot of food for 1 person! So sometimes we split a plate... And pay the extra few dollars to add an additional salad and soup. The cooks all have a different way of cooking their rice and noodles and meats... So I would never rely on your first visit or two to Mizu as being the typical way in which your food will taste every time you go there. We've had some mediocre flavored food too here and there but not often! The chefs are great with people and kids too as long as you know how to relax and enjoy the mini cooking show they traditionally put on. :-) We love this place and so does everyone we've recommended it to. Our favorite chef is PuTu - he's a great cook, funny and personable!

Manager was not at all accomidating when we had multiple service issues. Would NEVER recommend. BEWARE.

Been going for over the year we've lived here. Couple of times we've had service issues. Tonight we went and the chef failed to cook our chicken thourghly. Everyone who had it at the table noticed. When it was brought up to the chef he got upset. The manager came over and said she would cook us "some in the back." When she brought it outit was just the chicken. No replacement for the rice or vegatabeles which were tainted by the raw chicken. We brought it upmtomour waitress who went back to the manager. She came back over and got upset saying all the other food was fine. She said "I give you discount." She brings the heck back with a 10% discount. Seriously? For food we couldn't eat! She got really mad when we complained about that. The waitress, Tonya, was great but the manager and food was horrible! The health department needs to check them out. Oh yeah, I forgot the best part, the manager had the audacity to say "It's a new chicken. It's suppose to be pink and rubbery." Yeah....no....never going back!

was an awesome experiance great atmosphere and very reasonably priced super friendly and caring staff......we are deffinately going back!
