The Create/Exchange is …Cedar Rapids most unique arts and crafts supply store!!! Filled with the supplies you need and want. Our inventory is based on what crafters are looking for to complete popular craft and upcycle projects. Supplies are curated and organized to give you a fun shopping experience with a treasure hunt kind of feel. Pricing is pay-as-you-wish and we offer in-store credit for many of the items on our wish list. Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials, useless, or unused items into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. Why let project supplies sit on your shelf and take up space? Don’t buy a whole package of something when you only need one… At the Create/Exchange we help makers get the supplies you need without wasting money on things you don't need. All items are sold in the quantity you need. For example, You want one picture from a calendar. Instead of paying for a whole calendar, at the Create/Exchange, you can get just the one picture you like. Do you need a few pipe cleaners? Don’t buy a hundred. We will let you choose how many you need. Our inventory is driven by the community of local artist and crafters, upcyclerss, and everyone who hates to see unused items going to waste. You don’t have to have a hoard of unused tools and supplies. Check out our Wish-List to get an idea of the kind of store we are. Choose what you need and drop-off the things you don’t. That way everybody can have the chance to create beautiful and useful things. BYOB – Bring your own reusable bags, please! We accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express. No checks please! All sales are final, but if you want to drop off your unused purchases for something else, we are totally cool with that.

How many times have you bought all the supplies you needed for a particular project, only to find that you don't love doing that project? or, bought more supplies than you needed for a project? Is all that stuff sitting on a shelf or in a closet, cluttering up your valuable space? We have a solution for that! Drop-offs or in store credit… There are 2 ways to drop off your unused items Drop it off and walk away- we will take it from there. Supplies should be clean but do not need to be organized. In-store credit is available for items on our wish list. The wish list is updated frequently so be sure to check for the most current list. Average credit is $5-20. Credit is limited to $20 per person/load/day. It's been in the basment awhile... Do not hesitate to drop off materials that have that faint “attic/basement smell” from being stored for long periods – we usually find that just letting them air out a few days at the shop reduces that odor significantly(we also have some other things to try if that doesn’t work). We adore aged paper ephemera, old fabric, retro yarns, and those mysteriously messy jars of buttons…we’ll clean them up and lovingly display them in our beautiful, well-organized space! Unfortunately, we can’t usually save items that are heavily soiled/damaged or have strong odors of smoke or mildew.
