Provided by YP.comI took my car for oil change Feb 23rd. The technician told me there was problem on “Right Front CV Shaft” and leaking on Valve Cover Gasket. I wanted to get second opinion because my car is more than 14 year old. If nothing happened after that, end of story.
When my car was due to 5000 mile oil change, I took it to another shop to do oil change and a “Check” warning. I fixed the “Air Fuel Ration Sensor-N” that caused the “Check” warning. And the mechanic told me nothing wrong with “Right Front CV Shaft”. Then came with the worse part, the mechanic found that the “Oil Pan Thread” was damage due to over tightened. And it was very hard to remove the plug. So I had to replace the pan. I called Midas when I learned this. A manager took my call and told me to come in to talk to him.
After my car fixed on 7/30, I took the damage parts to the shop on Saturday (8/3) and the manager was not there. I went again next Monday and a gentleman, call Richard, who received me and guided to the work area which usually customer should not go in. I think this was because there were customers in the office area. He then told me that it was not necessary to replace the oil pan, just use a bigger bolt as the oil plug. And he said I should have told him that my car was already drained so he could go to the other shop to fix it for me. If my car’s oil plug was not removed, how could the mechanic found out the thread was damage?! And my car’s oil, of course, was already drained. Second, I don’t think the use a bigger bolt is a safe fix. I spent about $400 to fix this damage, and Midas refused to pay anything for the damage the caused.
