In the early 1990s, Bobby Salazar, a founder of Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurants, began operating and franchising restaurants in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It maintains more than 25 locations throughout the San Joaquin Valley. Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurants offers various types of franchises, including restaurant and cantina, taqueria and taqueria-express. Its restaurant and cantina-type franchises are full-service, sit-down restaurants with bars. The restaurant's taqueria-type franchises offer over-the-counter cafe-style Mexican food, and its taqueria-type franchises offer daily-cooked Mexican food over-the-counter in a convenience store atmosphere. Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurants also supports several organizations, such as the Fresno Unified School District, Fresno State University, Exceptional Parents Unlimited, Central California Blood Center, Make a Wish Foundation and The Fresno Chaffee Zoo. It maintains a location in Fresno, Calif.
