Read all the reviews prior to going and I thought it should be worth trying, should have listened to he bad reviews. I guess this place is love it or hate it:(. I hated it, overpriced, food wasn't great quality. Taste was mediocre.

Best food in Houston

Kind of pricey but the food is unbeatable. Very unique flavors unlike any other restaurant. We didn't find anything we didn't like. Try any of the appetizers and the "Taste of South Africa"!

5 Star Food In A 2 Star Atmosphere

Chefs menu and execution on meals are excellent . The price is to be expected for the quality of food however, the atmosphere is not demanding of the price. This restaurant was rated as romantic . Maybe if you are 19 and you like electronic dance music. The Multi colored lighting is distracting and hard to see. Service is decent but for the price, they should be more attentive. Whine is ok. Most of their whine is there own label. You can buy the same whine with your own label for about $5 per bottle however, they sell it for $15 a glass. I am not slamming this place, the food is great.

Read all the wonderful reviews...

Read all the wonderful reviews and really wanted to try out their food. Too bad as my one trip ended in massive failure.

I wanted to take all of my staff out here for Thanksgiving. Called to reserve a week in advance for a party of 7 and they told us they would close early on our preferred date. We chose to reserve for a late lunch before they closed. Usually an upscale eatery should call to confirm reservations. This place did not. We called the day before just to make sure though and said reservation was confirmed. We show up the next day at the reserved time and were told the restaurant was closed even though their open sign was still on. They never bothered to call us to tell us this. The manager told us the kitchen has already closed. I was extremely upset at this BS and poor management. I would never expect this at fine establishments like Mark's or Chez Roux. Ended up going to Perry's nearby who were very accomodating for our group of 7.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't bother making reservations. This second-rate restaurant do not honor reservations. You'll have better luck as a walk-in.

Interesting decor, though not terribly comfortable. South African cuisine was different, but not spectacular. Interesting spice mixtures. Piano/string bass combo was a nice touch, but the hard surface throughout the room made it very loud, magnifying all the conversations around you, creating an insurmountable din. Not the place to go for a quiet or romantic evening, nearly lost my voice trying to have a conversation.
