Provided by DexKnowsFirst of all there was a time when Spanish peaks care about what kind of services that they provide to their clients and to the community at large but since the change over in the past couple of years they care more about being right and making money. I have seen what happened first hand to the clients in the community since the great change swept through spanish peaks which has lead to greater numbers ending up hospitalized, in jail, homeless and off their medications. They currently have 1 psychiatrist and 1 nurse practitioner to provide mental health /medications for the adult population. Because many of their prescribers quit do to the radical and unpopular change that was forced on the agency without taking into consideration the unattended consequences of those changes. While understanding change is a part life and is necessary ; traditions are also very important and is the key to understanding why certain programs are needed in a community such as Pueblo. I also know that they are great people that work for Spanish Peaks that care about what kind services that they provide but their voice has gone unheard. In part do to the fact they need to worry that 50% of their time is billable time regardless if the Clients need the service or not. Oh they will deny this claim but unfortunately this is true. The board members refuse to listen and have their heads in the sand even when newspaper articles have come out about the CEO . Some of the changes that didn't make it into the paper includes spending over 400,000 dollars in remodels and furniture rather than saving programs that benefited the clients, their families and the community as a whole.

Provided by DexKnowsWorst housing program in pueblo. Concerns with bats- bad plumbing -no heat-leaks bugs-they just inspect and approve the homes anyway. Don't care if patients have medication -food or decent clothing. Take all patients money. Mistreat the elderly by forcing them to eat food they don't like at their facilities.

Those who may be experiencing symptoms that could benefit from a medication will be seen by one of the Center's psychiatrists.
