Based on my experience, I do not recommend this company for a cross-country move. Stop and Move actually sent me this website to see positive reviews about their company, so I want to make sure there is an honest review that reflects the poor service I received. I was paired with Stop and Move through a third party broker (Open Road Moving and Storage). This was one of the most disappointing moving experiences I have ever had (I have moved over 7+ times). I used this company for a cross-country move, NYC to Los Angeles. Every step of the way I was hit with unforeseen charges. In NYC, I was charged $260 because they could not park close enough to my front door, and $75 for each flight of stairs. When they were in transit, I was never able to get an update on where my stuff was until the night before delivery. When they delivered, I was charged $350 to move my stuff from their semi truck to a shuttle car -- and they had my LA address since the moment I signed the contract. They gave me an ultimatum, either pay the fee, or I can pick up my stuff from a warehouse over 50 miles away. I have a loading dock in my new LA address and I was charged $75 for Long Haul (with no measurement device to show proof of the distance) and they tried to charge me $75 because I have an elevator!! I was able to refuse this charge, but the main takeaway from this experience is to not trust the estimated fee they quote you at the beginning as you will 100% be charged additional fees every step of the way. Along with all the surprise fees, my TV stand and dresser arrived damaged, and I am missing an important piece from my bed frame. Most of my boxes were damaged as well, even ones marked Fragile. I would not recommend this company if you are looking for movers, the service they provided was not sufficient for the price I paid, and the customer service when trying to troubleshoot was bad.

Stop and Move finished the job quickly and very efficiently. They called me 20 minutes before coming to my place. When I opened the door, I saw 3 gentlemen standing there with a smile on their faces. They introduced themselves and quickly took a look at the inventory. They started packing all the items, and after 3 hours all was nicely wrapped and loaded on their van. Upon delivery, they unloaded all the items very carefully. When I opened everything, I did not find a single damage. I was impressed. I actually got a damage free move!
